Tokyo (VNA) – More than 50 golfers from Vietnam and some guests from Japan participated in the Sakura Championship 2023 held by Yo Group of Vietnam in Japan’s Shizuoka prefecture.
This is the biggest group of Vietnamese golfers travelling to Japan since the East Asian nation fully opened its borders to foreign visitors in October 2022.
Hoang Dinh Giang, Chairman of Yo Group that provides golf tourism services, said through the tournament, the company wants to promote tourism in combination with sport competitions between the two countries.
According to Alexandru Arba, a Japan researcher at Statista, a leading statistics company on the Internet, the number of golf players in Japan was estimated at 10.52 million last year, an increase of nearly 13% compared to 10 years ago./.
