Japanese Ambassador: Japan Assisting Interim Government with Reform Programs

Japan is providing support to help implement the necessary reforms for Bangladesh’s interim government. The announcement was made by Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka, IWAMA Kiminori, during his farewell visit to President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban.

In a press briefing following the meeting, the President’s Press Secretary M Abedin shared the details of the discussion. The outgoing ambassador emphasized Japan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and people-to-people relations between the two nations.

President Shahabuddin expressed his appreciation to Ambassador IWAMA for his successful tenure and recognized Japan as Bangladesh’s largest bilateral development partner. He also thanked Japan for its assistance in funding various major infrastructure projects in the country.

The President highlighted Bangladesh’s investment opportunities and encouraged Japanese investors to explore sectors such as ICT, medical equipment, and tourism. He also called on Japan to extend its support to resolve the Rohingya crisis in a dignified manner.

Ambassador IWAMA expressed gratitude for the full cooperation he received from President Shahabuddin during his tenure. The meeting was attended by Senior Secretary of the President’s Office Nasimul Ghani and Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury.
