Japan, the U.S., and South Korea held a trilateral meeting Sunday on the sidelines of the ongoing G7 summit in Hiroshima.
Recognizing the acceleration of North Korea’s nuclear and missile development, the allies signaled their intention to bolster cooperation to enhance their deterrence. The three countries have already discussed concrete measures regarding real-time information-sharing on Pyongyang’s missile-related activities, and the meeting was expected to confirm moves to expedite further talks on the issue.
